PASSENGERS 1994-95

The images of the subway passengers can be singularly regarded as representations of individual traits and behaviors, in this case embodied by the hands. But their broader meaning is attested to when they are considered as a whole, thus invoking their general significance. At first glance the images seem repetitious due to their similar cropping and composition. It is though this similarity that a pattern begins to form, reinforcing the collective character, which is the basis for this body of work.
